Quick start

Go from a finished script or recording to an editable first cut.

#Start with your material

Open Dashboard in your workspace. Bring a finished script, an audio voiceover, or a talking-head recording. Kinema builds the video around that material, then gives you a timeline to review and edit.

Your starting pointWhat to do
Written scriptPaste it into the composer, or use + to import a .txt, .pdf, or .docx file. Choose a narration voice.
Recorded narrationUse + → Add voiceover to attach your audio. The recording supplies the narration.

#Create the first cut

  1. Choose a format

Open Niche and choose YTA for a documentary format, or Elias for a presenter-led format. Review the sources that the preset selects.

  2. Check the language and voice

Use the flag at the top of the composer to set the video language. For a script, open Voice, listen to a preview, and select a narrator.

  3. Choose the look and sources

Pick a graphics theme. Open the sources pill or Advanced settings to choose footage, images, music, graphics, and a presenter.

  4. Review the build

Press Create video. In Ready to build?, check the material, estimated length, voice or presenter, sources, and estimated credits. Use Fine-tune to make changes.

  5. Create, then review

Press Create video in the confirmation. Wait for the upload to finish; the project progress page then tracks the build and opens the editor when ready.

#Before you start

  • Hosted projects support 6–40 minutes of material. The composer shows a warning when an attached recording is outside that range.
  • Use a recording you have permission to use. A voice clone or presenter photo also requires the speaker’s or subject’s permission.
  • Make sure you are in the intended personal or team workspace before creating the project.
