FAQ
Answers to common Kinema workspace, source, editor, and billing questions.
Common questions
Can I create a project with only a title and voiceover?
Yes. Reference notes improve direction, but a clean voiceover gives Kinema enough timing to plan the first timeline.
Where does a project go after I press Generate?
Kinema creates a project URL first. When the timeline is ready, that project can open the editor.
Can I leave while a build runs?
Yes. Return from All Projects or a Filters state such as Building, Ready to edit, or Needs resume.
When do I pick source types?
After the brief step. The source screen appears before the project starts so the build follows the right media rules.
Can I use my own material?
Yes. Use Sourced Footage, Sourced Images, or upload replacements in the editor when a timeline exists.
Who is responsible for licensing?
The creator is responsible for reviewing rights, factual claims, and publishing compliance before release.
Can I replace a bad clip?
Yes. Open the editor, choose the beat, then upload a replacement or re-roll the asset.
What is the difference between Billing and Upgrade plan?
Billing manages invoices and payment details. Upgrade plan shows your current plan and available plan changes.
Does re-rendering count?
Rendering uses compute, so teams should re-render after meaningful timeline changes rather than every tiny edit.
